The health service I never knew I needed

…and why you might want it too!

Summary: I (Mat) discuss the benefits of regular osteopathy and why I now see it as an integral part of my wellness routine.

At Wise & Prime, during our initial PT consultation, we ask new clients lots of questions about their health.

We want to understand what’s brought them to us and find out how best we can help them.

In doing so, we want to know about any pain or injuries the client has experienced (or is experiencing) before we start an exercise program.

The reason for this is simple. We don’t want to exacerbate any injuries and want to ensure we are making the best recommendations for the client’s overall well-being before we start.

Which means that sometimes, if a client is experiencing pain in a joint, we will often refer them to our recommended Chiropractor/Osteopath provider in Hove; Back2Balance.

This will usually happen either before they start a personal training program or alongside it (depending on the severity of the issue).

We have found this relationship incredibly beneficial, both for the client and our businesses, as we all work together to ensure the client gets the help they need.

From my experience, the root cause of most minor injuries I see is usually a combination of over-stressing a ligament, joint or muscle (either through too much repetition or too much load) combined with an imbalance or weakness in that area.

So, whilst the team at Back2Balance work to detect and treat the problem by manipulating, stretching and massaging a person's muscles and joints back into good order, we help strengthen the problem area in our private PT studio (to both aid recovery and prevent the issue from happening again).

We achieve this by communicating regularly so that recommendations can be made both ways.

As a result, we’ve worked closely with Back2Balance for the past 4 years and have helped so many clients become pain-free and fitter/stronger than ever. This was recently evidence by a client who’s moved to Scotland. She said:

“My chiropractor, Meg (Back2Balance), recommended I started doing exercises to strengthen my back. She put me in touch with Mat from Wise & Prime.

Over the years I’ve had several failed gym memberships and personal trainers but this was different. Mat made me feel comfortable and after a few sessions I started to look forward to working out (which had never happened before). His sessions are fun and varied, everything is explained and demonstrated. I quickly started to see results.

I’m sad to have completed my last session with Mat due to me moving location and I’ll struggle to find someone as great as him. They have played a massive part in helping me successfully loose 56kg. The support & encouragement is second to none.”

And I continue to visit my Osteopath, Meg at Back2Balance, for regular adjustments each month.

What I particularly enjoy about seeing Meg is not only how nice it feels to be ‘re-aligned’ by an expert but, as someone who trains regularly, I can discuss any niggles or issues I’m having with her so we can create an action plan moving forwards.

Furthermore, we share a holistic approach to health & fitness and recognise how factors like stress, nutrition and sunlight can impact one’s ability to maintain a healthy physique.

Sometimes, when people think of fitness, they might focus solely on ‘endurance’ or ‘stamina’. However, the reality is that it takes good mental health, sleep, nutrition, mobility, stability, strength AND bone/joint health to sustainably build and maintain ‘fitness’ in the long run.

Which is why, as a holistic Personal Trainer in Hove, I believe Osteopathy should be an integral part of everyone’s wellness routine.

Believe it or not, I wasn’t familiar with the benefits of Osteopathy/Chiropractic before I started seeing Meg. But now, I can’t imagine not doing it. And this seems to be the case for most of the clients we refer too.

So if you’re experiencing any pain in your muscles or joints, consider trying Back2Balance in Hove for expert Osteopathy/Chiropractic support and treatment.
